Are you an Ecosexual?

Summer is in full bloom, and I can’t be the only one who finds something just a little erotic about that. They don’t call it “the birds and the bees” for nothing. There’s something about luscious greenery, blooming flowers, and the occasional summer rain storm that just makes me feel…abundantly sexy.

Can you relate? Is there something about the spring and summer months (besides the abundance of people wearing less clothes of course) that just…does it for you?

I first heard the term “ecosexual” as something a bit tongue-in-cheek, but the concept holds an enduring appeal to me. Are we really so different from other animals, whose desires are influenced by the natural world they are a part of? While I love to play with ideas of kink being “perverted” and “unnatural,” the truth is that all consensual erotic play is deeply natural: there’s not much more natural, more primal, in my mind, than desiring and being desired, even if we involve all kinds of modern, human-made accessories in the process. So go bury your face in a flower, get tied to a tree, flog a lover with some stinging nettles, and take a moment to meditate on our beautiful oneness with this big sexy earth. I promise you, it’s worth it!
